POOL FILTER CARE & EXPECTED LIFESPAN DISCLOSURE

PURPOSE

Pool filters are one of the most important components of a swimming pool's circulation and sanitation system. Proper maintenance is essential to maximize filter performance, water quality, and equipment lifespan.

This disclosure is intended to help customers understand proper filter care and the factors that may affect the life expectancy of cartridge filters, DE (Diatomaceous Earth) filters, and related filter components.

NO GUARANTEE OF FILTER LIFESPAN

The lifespan of any filter cartridge, filter grid, manifold, internal component, or filter media cannot be guaranteed.

Actual service life varies significantly based on pool usage, water chemistry, maintenance practices, environmental conditions, and overall pool care.

Manufacturer life expectancy estimates are general guidelines and should not be interpreted as guarantees.

FACTORS THAT MAY SHORTEN FILTER LIFE

The following conditions may significantly reduce the lifespan of filter cartridges, DE grids, manifolds, internal components, and related equipment:

• Improper water chemistry
• High chlorine concentrations
• Repeated shock treatments
• Green-to-Clean restorations
• Algae outbreaks
• Excessive debris loads
• Heavy leaf accumulation
• Oils, lotions, and sunscreen contamination
• High phosphate levels
• High calcium levels
• Improper winterization
• Freezing conditions
• Excessive operating pressure
• Damaged pumps or circulation systems
• Failure to clean the filter regularly
• Running the pool with clogged or dirty filters
• Chemical imbalances
• Extended periods of pool neglect

FILTER MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Proper maintenance is the responsibility of the pool owner unless filter cleaning service has been separately contracted.

Customers are responsible for:

• Monitoring filter pressure
• Cleaning filter cartridges when required
• Backwashing DE filters when required
• Maintaining proper water chemistry
• Replacing worn filter cartridges, grids, o-rings, gaskets, and other consumable components as needed
• Following manufacturer recommendations

Failure to perform routine maintenance may reduce filtration performance and shorten equipment lifespan.

CARTRIDGE FILTERS

Cartridge filters require periodic removal and cleaning.

Depending upon pool usage and conditions, cartridges may require cleaning multiple times per season.

Even with proper maintenance, cartridge filters are consumable items and will eventually require replacement.

DE FILTERS

DE filters require periodic backwashing, recharging with DE powder, and occasional internal cleaning.

DE grids and internal components are wear items and may require replacement over time.

Failure to properly maintain a DE filter may result in reduced filtration performance, increased operating pressure, equipment strain, and premature component failure.

GREEN POOLS AND ALGAE EVENTS

Pools that experience algae blooms, Green-to-Clean restorations, severe contamination, or prolonged neglect often place extraordinary stress on filtration systems.

Such events may significantly shorten the lifespan of cartridges, grids, manifolds, seals, and related components.

Crystal Water Pool Services cannot guarantee filter life following algae remediation or restoration projects.

FILTER REPLACEMENT WARRANTY LIMITATIONS

Crystal Water Pool Services warrants workmanship associated with installation services as provided in writing.

Crystal Water Pool Services does not guarantee:

• The lifespan of filter cartridges
• The lifespan of DE grids
