POOL CLOSING & WINTERIZATION
Get Your Pool Ready for Winter
A properly winterized pool helps protect your pool, plumbing, and equipment throughout the colder months and makes getting started again in the spring much easier.
Crystal Water Pool Services provides professional pool closing and winterization services throughout the fall season. Before scheduling your appointment, please take a few minutes to review the information below so you know what to expect and can make sure your pool is ready when we arrive.
BEFORE YOU SCHEDULE
Is Your Pool Ready to Close?
Your pool does not need to be perfect, but it should be reasonably clean and accessible before your winterization appointment.
Before we arrive, please make sure:
-
Leaves and excessive debris have been removed from the pool.
-
The pool is not green, heavily contaminated, or in need of restoration.
-
We have clear access to the pool and equipment.
-
Gates are unlocked or access instructions have been provided.
-
Pets are secured away from the work area.
-
Your winter cover and any customer-supplied closing equipment are available and accessible.
-
You let us know about any known leaks, equipment problems, damaged plumbing, or other concerns before your appointment.
Please do not lower or drain your pool unless Crystal Water Pool Services has specifically instructed you to do so. The appropriate water level depends on your pool type, cover, plumbing, and winterization method.
If you're unsure whether your pool is ready to close, just contact us. We're happy to help you determine what needs to be done before scheduling.
WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR POOL CLEANED BEFORE CLOSING?
Pool closing and winterization service does not include a pool cleaning.
Some customers choose to have their pool professionally cleaned shortly before winterization to remove leaves, debris, and other normal accumulation before the cover goes on. This is optional and must be scheduled separately from your pool closing.
If you would like a pre-closing cleaning, please let us know when scheduling your winterization so we can determine availability and coordinate the services whenever possible.
Optional Pre-Closing Cleaning
A pre-closing cleaning may include normal cleaning services such as skimming, vacuuming, brushing, and removal of routine debris.
Cleaning services are billed separately from your pool closing/winterization service.

Is Your Pool Green or Heavily Contaminated?
A standard pre-closing cleaning is intended for pools that are still in reasonably normal condition.
If your pool is green, cloudy, algae-infested, heavily contaminated, or contains excessive debris, please let us know before scheduling. The pool may require additional cleaning, Green-to-Clean restoration, or another corrective service rather than a standard one-time cleaning.

Not Sure What Your Pool Needs?
That's okay. Send us a few current photos of the pool when you contact us, and we'll help determine whether your pool is ready for winterization, would benefit from an optional cleaning, or needs additional attention before closing.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO REVIEW
We want our customers to know what to expect before their appointment—not discover important service information afterward.
Please review the following policies and disclosures that apply to your pool closing and winterization service.
Pool Closing / Winterization Service Disclosure
This is the primary disclosure for your winterization appointment. It explains what is included in the service, customer responsibilities, winter weather and freeze limitations, pool covers, water levels, equipment, off-season monitoring, and other important information.

Service Readiness & Scheduled Service Policy
Please review our service-readiness requirements before your appointment. This policy explains customer responsibilities regarding access, utilities, pets, equipment accessibility, and other conditions necessary for us to complete your scheduled service.
SERVICE READINESS & SCHEDULED SERVICE POLICY
Payment Policy
Payment for service is due according to our current Payment Policy. Please review payment methods, due dates, late-payment provisions, and other payment information before scheduling.
DOES YOUR POOL NEED ADDITIONAL WORK BEFORE CLOSING?
Sometimes a pool needs a little more attention before it can be properly winterized.
If your pool is green, cloudy, heavily contaminated, contains excessive debris, has equipment problems, is losing water, or needs repairs, please let us know before your winterization appointment.
Depending on the condition of the pool, one of the following may also apply:
Green or Non-Swimmable Pool
If your pool has become green, cloudy, algae-infested, contaminated, or otherwise significantly deteriorated, additional treatment may be recommended before closing.

Repairs, Leaks or Equipment Problems
If you already know that your pool has a leak, damaged plumbing, equipment problems, or another repair concern, please tell us when scheduling so we can determine whether it needs to be addressed before winterization.
Not every customer will need these additional services. These links are provided simply so the information is available if it applies to your pool.
REPAIR, INSTALLATION & SPECIALTY SERVICE AGREEMENT
Deposits & Larger Jobs
Most standard pool closing services do not require a deposit. However, if your total scheduled project - including winterization, cleaning, repairs, additional labor, materials, or other services - exceeds $500, a 50% deposit is required before the project can be scheduled or materials ordered.
Credit card payments of $500 or more are subject to a 3% credit card processing fee.
Please review our Large Job Service Agreement & Project Terms for complete deposit, payment, scheduling, and project requirements.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR POOL IS CLOSED
Once your winterization is complete, your pool is officially tucked in for the season—but it still needs an occasional look throughout the winter.
We recommend periodically checking:
-
Your winter cover and its attachment points
-
Water or excessive snow accumulation on the cover
-
The pool's water level
-
Visible equipment and plumbing
-
Storm or wind damage
-
Falling branches or debris
-
Any unusual changes that could indicate a problem
Winterization helps reduce the risk of winter damage, but it does not eliminate every risk associated with freezing temperatures, severe weather, leaks, groundwater, equipment condition, or changing water levels.
If something doesn't look right during the winter, please contact us rather than waiting until spring.

READY TO CLOSE YOUR POOL?
Once you've reviewed the applicable information above, contact Crystal Water Pool Services to schedule your pool closing.
Fall appointments can fill quickly, and winterization schedules are affected by weather and temperatures, so we encourage customers to schedule before freezing weather becomes a concern.
