POOL OPENING & SPRING STARTUP
Get Your Pool Ready for the Season
Opening your pool is the first step toward getting it ready for another season of swimming, relaxing, and enjoying your backyard.
Crystal Water Pool Services provides professional Pool Opening & Spring Startup service to help reopen your pool, reconnect seasonal equipment, and get your circulation system running for the season.
Before your scheduled appointment, please review the information below so you know what to expect and what needs to be ready when we arrive.
Please keep in mind that opening a pool and making a pool swim-ready are not always the same thing. Depending on the condition of your water, equipment, and pool when the cover is removed, additional cleaning, chemicals, treatment, repairs, or follow-up service may be needed.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A POOL OPENING?
A typical Pool Opening may include:
- Removing the winter pool cover
- Removing accessible winterization plugs
- Reassembling applicable pump and filter equipment
- Reinstalling applicable ladders and handrails
- Starting accessible pool equipment
- Starting/testing the heater when applicable and appropriate
- Brushing the pool
- Testing the water
- Adding startup chemicals as needed
Chemicals are billed separately unless specifically included in your written quote.
Every pool and equipment system is different, so the exact work required may vary.

IS MY POOL GOING TO BE READY TO SWIM IMMEDIATELY?
Maybe - but not usually.
A Pool Opening gets the pool and circulation system reopened for the season. It does not guarantee that the pool will immediately be clean, clear, chemically balanced, algae-free, warm enough for swimming, or otherwise ready for use.
Some pools open in excellent condition and need very little additional work.
Others may require:
- Additional filtration time
- Chemicals
- Cleaning
- Vacuuming
- Filter service
- Algae treatment
- Green-to-Clean Restoration
- Equipment repairs
- Follow-up visits
The condition of the pool after winter can vary considerably from one property to another.
WOULD YOU LIKE A POST-OPENING CLEANING?
A full pool cleaning is not automatically included with the standard Pool Opening service.
When scheduling your opening, you may also choose to add a separate post-opening pool cleaning.
This can be especially helpful for pools that have accumulated debris over the winter or need additional attention after the circulation system has been restarted.
Depending on pool condition, more than one cleaning or treatment may sometimes be necessary.
Chemicals are billed separately.
WHAT IF MY POOL OPENS GREEN OR CLOUDY?
If your pool opens green, heavily cloudy, algae-filled, contaminated, foul-smelling, or otherwise outside normal swimming condition, standard opening and cleaning services may not be enough to restore it.
In those situations, we may recommend our Green-to-Clean Restoration Service.

WHAT IF SOMETHING DOESN'T WORK WHEN THE POOL IS STARTED?
Starting pool equipment after the winter can sometimes reveal problems that were not visible while the system was shut down.
Examples may include:
- Pump problems
- Plumbing leaks
- Deteriorated seals or gaskets
- Filter problems
- Valve problems
- Heater problems
- Electrical/control issues
- Damaged or deteriorated components
Pool Opening is not a comprehensive equipment inspection or diagnostic service.
If we discover an equipment issue, we will let you know what we find. Separate diagnostic service, repairs, parts, materials, labor, or an additional appointment may be necessary.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
Please make sure your property and pool are ready for service.
Before we arrive:
- Make sure we have safe, unobstructed access to the pool and equipment.
- Make sure electricity and water are available.
- Make sure the pool has an appropriate water level for startup.
- Have ladders, handrails, fittings, plugs, and other seasonal components available if they were stored separately.
- Make sure pool equipment is accessible.
- Secure pets as necessary for safe access.
- Let us know in advance about known equipment problems, leaks, missing parts, low water, or other concerns.
If the pool does not have enough water to safely start the circulation system, an additional visit may be necessary after the proper water level has been restored.
AFTER YOUR POOL IS OPENED
Once the pool is opened, it may take some time for the water to circulate and respond to treatment.
Depending on your pool, you may be asked to:
- Run the pool equipment for a specific amount of time
- Monitor the water level
- Watch for equipment problems or leaks
- Empty baskets as needed
- Follow chemical instructions
- Schedule a cleaning or follow-up treatment
If you are a recurring Crystal Water Pool Services cleaning customer, we will coordinate the start of your routine cleaning schedule separately.

POOL OPENING SEASON & SCHEDULING
Spring Pool Opening season is one of our busiest times of the year.
Scheduling is affected by route availability, weather, technician availability, pool condition, and the amount of work required at appointments earlier in the day.
We make every reasonable effort to accommodate requested dates, but scheduling adjustments may occasionally be necessary.
Scheduling early gives us the best opportunity to accommodate your preferred opening date.
